Peenemuende stark contrasts

Recorded using HF detektor wandering on the beach at Peenemuende in Northern Germany. Strong signals despite lack of potential signal sources close by. Stark contrasts between detektor signal when held close to the sand and when held high above the head

Tsuchiura (Ibaraki), japanese backgroundnoise + BTS signal

Compared to european BTS the japanese sound different. Must have some connection to different cellphone frequencies.

Berlin Tempelhof – unusual repetitive signal 01

Recorded using HF detektor in the apron of Berlin Tempelhof former Flughafen. High frequency background with an intermittent, repetitive loud chirping signal (a set of three peaks) returning every five seconds. The same signal was also heard in many locations around Tempelhof

Dortmund, Mainstation <> Dortmunder U

Detektor started the walk at the main station of Dortmund and walked via Katharinenstrasse (a street name, only pedestarian zone) to Kampfstrasse, where suddenly (04:15) the background noise and the usual BTS signal disappeared, due to an overload of a similar type as near the tv tower of Alexander Platz Berlin. As detektor walked further in direction of Dortmunder U there was almost nothing to hear. At 05:50 detektor passed through a pathway inside/under a building and left the passage at around 07:00. Towards the end of the recording, when arriving at a square in front of Dortmunder U. There were 3 BTS directly standing in front of the detektor (see video). At 07:50 the detektors HF antenna on its board was touched by a human hand, it did that for several times. Actually all the time from then to the end, when there is a signal audible.

There is also a video of the 3 BTS.

Napoli <> Busstation near Bisaccia

Long bus ride from Central Bus Station in Napoli to a bus station at the highway near Bisaccia. The ride is in a crowed bus with a lot of mobile gadgets. At 36:00 long after leaving the urban area of Napoli the BTS signals dissappear for the first time. Around 38:30 the detektor drives clearly audible past a mobile phone base station, most of them are near the highway! See pictures below. From there on the several BTS come and go and get less and less. Around 70:40 – 72:20 there more or less no high pitched base transceiver station (BTS) signal: A silent island amidst of rurality 2.0?

Bisaccia, Castle (near Napoli, Italy)

Walk from the Castle (there were many people due to the Festival “Interferenze”) down to the main square (piazza) and round the castle. Very clear GSM signals, because there is no background noise like in urban cities. You can hear clearly the BTS (e.f. 02:20 or 05:12 or ) some kilometers away, but via direct air line (see picture below). A UMTS signal (02:32), interesting signal at 06:25 (what is this?). There are also silent areas e.g. around 09:20, where you can hear the typical GSM localizing signal.

Zolastrasse Berlin

HF recording made on corner of Zolastrasse and Linienstrasse. After a few seconds a very unusual, pure high frequency tone with few punctuations is found at a particular point in space.

Volksbühne Berlin

HF detektor recorded on bench close to Volksbühne in Berlin Mitte. Much more intense pulsing of all signals compared to close-by Babylon recording.

Karl-Liebknecht Berlin

A very short walk, dance along my favourite spectral zone Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse. HF recording with the detektor and some varying, interesting signals.

Radisson Hotel at Alexander Platz Berlin

Radisson Hotel Berlin

The reason you hear almost nothing at the beginning is supposably due to the massive radiation of the alexander platz tv tower. I walked from close range (50m) of the tower to Radisson Hotel Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 3. You can clearly hear a shift of infoscape when the detektor entered the radisson hotel starting at 03:12 and left the hotel lobby at 10:05 and entered again around 10:30.

Flight Berlin <> London

flight_Berlin_london

The detektors was recording during a standard flight from Berlin to London. You can hear that the permanently existing high pitched tone (base transceiver station (BTS) signal of mobile phone network) dissappears between 32:30 and 33:35. This should also be the time of takeoff of the plane. Afterwards you can hear clearly the famous rhythm of a GSM phone, 3G mobile phones and other signals. People don’t repect the instructions of the plane crew to switch off all electronic devices. Does somebody know what kind of signal at i.e 47:00 was sended? Also at 120:00 interesting sounds are hearable! This must have some connection to the airplanes communication with a control tower. Aroud 126:00 the high pitched tone which dominates the infoscape of a urban city gets hearable.
